Ying (she/her) holds a dual appointment between LILE at Duke University and Duke Kunshan University (DKU), strategically designed to foster teaching and learning innovations through a close-knit connection and collaboration between the two campuses.

As the Assistant Vice Provost for Learning Innovation and Assessment, her work centers around developing and leading a strategic approach to institutional innovation in key areas including curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment at DKU. She will also collaborate with colleagues at LILE and faculty leaders at the Institute of Global Higher Education (IGHE) to conduct inquiries and experiments of innovative and future-oriented educational practices, while also developing outreach opportunities to share DKU’s practices and educational research findings with the Duke Community and other higher education peers. Ying looks forward to collaborating with colleagues from both campuses to drive strategic initiatives aimed at fostering educational innovation and enhancing learning experiences for the learners.

Background

Ying holds a master’s degree specialized in Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics and Assessment (MESA) from the Educational Psychology program at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She has an extensive background in assessment and pedagogical innovation from her previous roles at Stony Brook University, the University of Kansas, UC-San Diego, and NC State. Both her academic journey and professional experience have equipped her with the expertise to navigate the intersection of assessment, pedagogy, curriculum development, and strategic planning.
