Canvas is Duke’s University-supported learning management system, intended specifically for the purpose of delivering a course and integrating with your class roster. Canvas has a wealth of tools and features to help you manage your course, and we recommend it as a natural choice for creating a holistic and versatile learning experience.
Over 300 Duke and DKU instructors will use Canvas for Fall 2023, and Canvas will be available for all Duke instructors to use for Spring 2024. Our goal is to have all courses using Canvas by Fall 2024.
Features and functions of Canvas that we believe the Duke community will find especially valuable include:
- Speedgrader
- Mastery Paths and Mastery Grading
- New Analytics
- Global Calendar
- Mobile Apps (Instructor and Student)
- Easier integration with external applications (such as Google Drive, Panopto, and Gradescope)
- A large, engaged user community
