Session Information:

Over the past decade, the Duke University Libraries have collected eBooks with their numbers increasing significantly in the last three years. While eBook formats and platforms still vary widely, their acquisitions by the library has become normal part of collection building. Print and electronic books will continue to be part of the library’s collection mix into the foreseeable future as both offer unique advantages. Recent advances in eBooks collecting, including consortial purchasing and demand driven acquisition, have enriched the patron experience. Future developments such as local eBook hosting offer libraries the chance to further improve eBook usability.
