Katelyn Donnelly (Trinity ‘08), a Duke alumna and Managing Director of the Pearson Affordable Learning Fund, will discuss new low-cost global educational delivery models in a talk at Duke University.
The talk, titled “The $1-a-Week School,” will take place Thursday, March 2, at 2:30 p.m. in the Carpenter Conference Room in Rubenstein Library and is open to members of the Duke community. Register and view event details.
The Pearson Affordable Learning Fund is a venture fund with $65M of capital that invests in private schools, education technology, and scalable services to meet the demand for affordable education in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Donnelly co-founded the fund and set investment parameters, and directs all investment activity. In the talk, she will discuss her work at the fund and the private sector’s role in education in low-income countries.
Donnelly is board member of several fast growing companies around the world including Omega Schools in Ghana, SPARK Schools in South Africa, Avanti Learning Centres in India and APEC Schools in the Philippines. She the co-author of several industry leading publications about the future of education including Alive in the Swamp, Oceans of Innovation, and An Avalanche is Coming.
