IBM support for Faculty Curricular Innovation

IBM recently announced the 2011 Smarter Planet Faculty Innovation Award program, a competition designed to encourage the thoughtful development and incorporation of Smarter Commerce, Smarter Communication and Smarter Energy skills into existing Marketing, Business and IT curricula. Awards will be US $10,000.

Nominations opened the week of May 16 and remain open until September 1, 2011. Winners will be notified by email in October. The links below provide background on the award area and details of the process for submitting proposals.

Proposals are reviewed based on several criteria including membership in the IBM Academic Initiative.  Joining is a two step process.  Membership and its benefits are free.

Academic Initiative members have access to IBM software including data analytics software via download, CDs or the IBM Academic Skills Cloud. Courseware is also available to illustrate how IBM software can be incorporated into curriculum for the classroom.  Faculty who want to submit entries may want to join and begin accessing the IBM software and courseware, and collaborating with IBM’ers or other faculty about how these resources could enhance learning.
