Mobile Marine Megafauna

Dave Johnston, Research Scientist, Nicholas School of the Environment

Project Description

Dave Johnston, along with his colleagues Ari Friedlaender, Larry Crowder, Andy Read, Doug Nowacek and Cindy Van Dover have begun developing a digital textbook for the course Marine Megafauna (Bio 127), integrating photographs, video, audio and artwork, to be accessed using a mobile device. Currently, they are creating and assembling content, and exploring methods of delivering their materials in various formats, including for the iPad. The Marine Megafauna course engages students in marine science and conservation by focusing on charismatic animals like whales, penguins and sea turtles.
