Coursera for Duke

In December 2017, Learning Innovation launched Coursera for Duke, a new program to give Duke students, faculty and staff free access to Duke’s Coursera courses.

Coursera for Duke provides students with strong co-curricular content and Duke employees with professional development opportunities.

Since the program launched, 972 Duke community members have enrolled in at least one course. 22% have completed a course—well above the standard Coursera course completion rate.

Duke was the first university to pilot this learning model with Coursera. Inspired by Duke’s early success, 11 additional universities are piloting the model for their campuses.

Coursera for Duke expands the universe of learning at Duke. Online co-curricular courses complement what we offer in the formal curriculum with opportunities to enhance skills, branch out, explore a topic, and challenge yourself – at your own pace, with no grade, and no risk.

In June 2018, Duke launched a new partnership with Google to offer free courses on Google Cloud Platform through Coursera for Duke. This experimental program offers the Duke community introductory training in machine learning, cloud computing and data processing—some of the most in-demand skills in today’s workplace.
